Expedition and adventure cruise operators feature strongly in the 2026 Virtuoso global awards finalists, with several specialist lines recognised across cruise, adventure and sustainability categories.
The winners will be announced during Virtuoso Travel Week, which takes place from August 8-14, 2026, across the Bellagio, ARIA Resort & Casino, Vdara Hotel & Spa at ARIA, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
This year’s cruise awards include five standalone categories: Best Expedition Cruise Experience, Best River Cruise Experience, Best Ocean Luxury Cruise Experience, Best Niche Cruise Experience, and Best Ocean Cruise Experience – Large/Mega, Contemporary/Premium.
The Best Expedition Cruise Experience shortlist is one of the most closely watched for the adventure travel sector. Finalists are Aurora Expeditions, National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, PONANT, Quark Expeditions and Silversea. The category reflects continued demand for small-ship, destination-led cruising in remote regions such as Antarctica, the Arctic, the Kimberley, the Galápagos and other hard-to-reach wilderness areas.
National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has one of the strongest showings among adventure operators, appearing as a finalist in three categories. In addition to its place in the expedition cruise field, the company is also shortlisted for Best Adventure Community Partner, reinforcing its position at the intersection of expedition cruising, wildlife travel, scientific interpretation and active exploration.
HX Expeditions is also prominent, with two finalist nominations outside the main expedition cruise category.
