Dan Blanchard, CEO, InnerSea Discoveries & American Safari Cruises


With the christening of two revamped vessels last week, InnerSea Discoveries and American Safari Cruises expanded their fleet of yachts to six. Both brands have adopted a unique philosophy called “un-cruising,” which focuses on avoiding larger ports of call and encourages passengers to explore nature through hiking and kayaking.

In 2013, the Safari Legacy is scheduled to debut and it will offer guests the opportunity to relive the Alaskan Gold Rush of the late 19th century. We spoke with Dan Blanchard, owner, chairman and CEO of the two brands, about how his company has inherited the small ship cruise line legacy of now defunct Cruise West, as well as the impact that his two newly renovated ships will have on his company.
