Un-Cruise Adventures released its full 2015 schedule of small ship adventure cruises with 15 itineraries in Alaska's Inside Passage, Mexico's Sea of Cortés, Hawaiian Islands, Columbia & Snake Rivers, coastal Washington and British Columbia.   New in 2015, the line has increased its cruises visiting Glacier Bay in Alaska and the number of cruises offered on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
Travelers choose between three expedition vessels, three yachts and one replica coastal steamer carrying 22-88 guests on voyages focusing on adventure activities in scenic, often remote, destinations or river cruising entwined with living history.

 Columbia & Snake Rivers
The 88-guest S.S. Legacy, a replica coastal steamer similar to those that have a long history of plying the river, will sail 32 departures on the Columbia, Snake and Willamette Rivers with cruises departing from April through November 2015.  Weeklong river cruises sail roundtrip Portland, Oregon with a focus on living history—Lewis and Clark's Expedition, Oregon Trail, Native Americans, early pioneers and entrepreneurs.  A Heritage team on board brings history to life through lively presentations. Highlights include a jet boat tour into Hells Canyon, Multnomah Falls, Bonneville Dam, private tasting at a Washington winery, Fort Walla Walla, Maryhill Museum, Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, Columbia River Maritime Museum, Fort Clatsop and transit of eight locks. A series of four wine themed cruises are scheduled for late summer 2015.  Alaska
Glacier Bay National Park stars on many Alaska adventures in 2015 with 87 out of 115 Alaska cruises visiting the park for two days of in-depth exploration including hiking and kayaking inside the park.  Three yachts—Safari Quest, Safari Explorer and Safari Endeavour—and three expedition vessels—Wilderness Adventurer, Wilderness Discoverer and Wilderness Explorer—sail four itineraries from homeports of Ketchikan, Juneau and Sitka, Alaska.  Weeklong cruises visit few if any ports with more time outside in remote wilderness to see nature and wildlife up close. Itineraries are easily combined to create two or three week adventures.  Mexico's Sea of Cortés
The 84-guest Safari Endeavour sails 21 weeklong cruises roundtrip from San José del Cabo, Baja, Mexico from January-April and November-December.  Two itineraries offer travelers land and sea explorations in the remote and marine-life rich sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Desert hiking,  a convivial nighttime bonfire ashore, a mule ride into the arroyo, whale watching, kayaking, paddle boarding, skiff excursions and snorkeling with sea lions are included on both itineraries. Un-Cruise Adventures Offers New Hawaii Itinerary

Un-Cruise Adventures’ 36-guest yacht Safari Explorer will operate a new one-way Hawaii itinerary from November to April. The new itinerary sails between Molokai — a new destination — and Hawaii, the Big Island and also explores Lanai and Maui.

The weeklong Luxury Adventure cruises include activities and tours on the islands. The voyage includes cultural activities on Molokai with the vessel spending an evening at dock to allow for a full day of activities. “Molokai is like stepping back in time to the Hawaii of yesteryear,” said Dan Blanchard, CEO and principal for Un-Cruise Adventures. “It’s incredibly scenic and values its culture and heritage which we’re proud to be able to share with our guests.”

Among the activities on Molokai is a visit to the Halawa Valley for a hike to a waterfall, learning the traditions of an ancient taro patch and a visit to a nearby beach. In the evening, an authentic feast at the Molokai Museum and Cultural Center features fresh fish, poi, seaweed, Molokai sweet potatoes and other staples of the Hawaiian diet. Sea Voyager becomes Safari Voyager for Un-Cruise in 2013

The American expedition line has acquired Sea Voyager and renamed it Safari Voyager for year-round sailings in Mexico after the company, Sea Voyager Expeditions announced it had cancelled its proposed sailings, saying "due to economic conditions and early demand indicators, the owner of Sea Voyager Expeditions has made the decision to withdraw Sea Voyager Expeditions as a retail expedition product."

THE 64-passenger adventure yacht, which is currently undergoing renovation, is set to start operating in the Sea of Cortés from November 2013, replacing the 86-passenger Safari Endeavour.

Four different itineraries will be available from homeports of La Paz, Cabo and Guaymas.

In winter 2015, Safari Voyager is expected to move to Central America to spend winters exploring Costa Rica and summers in Belize, with transits of the Panama Canal in spring and autumn.

The Safari Endeavour will then return to sailing in the Sea of Cortés during the winter.

Purchased from the Bahamian owner of Sea Voyager Expeditions, Un-cruises' newest addition to the fleet has 33 outside cabins including four suites and two single cabins.

During the renovation, a new library and massage room will be created and the top deck will be transformed into an open-air public space with fitness equipment and lounge chairs.

A swim step platform on the stern allows guests to access the water for included activities such as snorkelling, skiff excursions, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.

The Safari Voyager becomes the adventure line's eighth vessel - all with capacities below 90 berths.

Un-Cruise Adventures adds themes to Hawaii, Mexico sailings

86-passenger Safari Endeavour

Travelers interested in marine biology, photography or with young kids in tow have a choice of 10 sailings this winter in Hawaii and Mexico’s Sea of Cortés with Un-Cruise Adventures.

Photography and marine biology theme cruises include an expert guest host on board for the week. Presentations will be held in the lounge and passengers are free to interact with the host on board or during excursions. One-on-one time allows for questions to be answered and hands-on help with photography.

‘Kids in Nature’ departures cater to families traveling with children 12 and younger. Safari Spirit Fire at Seattle Dock - Major Damage

The 105-foot 12-passenger Safari Spirit, operated by American Safari, burned at a Seattle dock last night, resulting in massive amounts of damage according to various reports.

The small ship burned alongside, with fire fighters working the blaze for hours. Early indications said that the flames destroyed four decks, including all passenger accommodations.

Dan Blanchard, American Safari owner, was apparently sleeping onboard when the fire started, and called 911 before getting off the ship safely. There were no passengers onboard.

Fuel onboard led to what officials called a “stubborn” fire, continuing to flare up throughout the night, before finally being fully extinguished.

The Coast Guard has placed a boom around the ship, watching for any pollution.

The Safari Spirit was scheduled to leave on its first voyage of the year on May 11, from Juneau.

American Safari Cruises Returns to Molokai

The yacht will return to its regularly scheduled two-day visits Jan. 21-22, 2012.

This agreement is a result of many long hours of spirited discussions about tourism and development on the island with all participants sharing the underlying desire to preserve Molokai’s unique character, history and traditions. With an eye on conservation, American Safari Cruises’ small-group travel philosophy strives to educate guests, be responsible stewards and make a positive impact on communities visited. The Safari Endeavour will cruise in Southeast Alaska from May to September. American Safari Cruises seeks to resolve community concerns on Molokai

American Safari Cruises CEO Dan Blanchard issued a statement this afternoon informing the Molokai Community that the company’s vessel will postpone its planned Friday and Saturday visits to the island.

“I want to express my sincere appreciation for the overwhelming participation in last night’s community meeting,” said Blanchard in the email statement.

Blanchard said it is the company’s intention to find “a workable solution to this situation.”

“We are working with members of the community to further this goal,” said Blanchard. “In this effort, we have elected to postpone the Safari Explorer’s arrival in Moloka’i.”

American Safari Cruises has announced the addition of an 86-guest small ship to its fleet of three yachts offering inclusive adventure cruises.

The Safari Endeavour, formerly the Spirit of Endeavour, will undergo major renovation to transform it into an upscale vessel ready to sail in Southeast Alaska in summer 2012.

“This is an ideal time to expand our fleet,” said Dan Blanchard, principal and chief executive officer. “In our 14-year history, our occupancy rates have never been higher, and we are seeing an increase in demand for the type of small-group adventure travel we offer.”

The yacht-style ship will cruise in Southeast Alaska from May to September. American Safari Cruises expands its warm water itineraries this winter with new adventure cruises among the Hawaiian Islands in addition to its voyages in Mexico’s Sea of Cortés.
