Crucemundo Charters River Silence to New Expedition Brand River Expeditions

Crucemundo Shipping has agreed to charter its river vessel River Silence to River Expeditions, a newly established expedition cruise brand. The company was founded by industry veteran Jan Bryde, whose career includes stints at nicko cruises, Plantours, Viva Cruises and Poseidon Expeditions.

The Swiss-registered ship will carry up to 160 passengers when operations begin in 2028. Initial itineraries are planned along the Rhine, Main and Danube.

River Expeditions plans to bring the expedition travel approach to European river cruising, with a focus on exploration, cultural understanding and closer connections with the places visited. Planned activities include expert-led wildlife observation, birdwatching, guided hikes, kayaking and e-bike excursions, both on board and ashore.

River Silence uses a Twin Cruiser design that separates the propulsion system from passenger accommodation, which reduces noise and vibration on board.

Crucemundo chief executive Alexei Prokhorov called the venture an "ambitious new concept" and said the company is ready to support its development. The charter is part of Crucemundo's wider strategy to expand its presence on Europe's rivers through partnerships that bring new concepts to market.
