Ocean Adventurer to sail as MS Expedition for G Adventures

#expeditioncruising .

G Adventures, one of the largest adventure travel companies worldwide, has announced a new ship for its Antarctic expeditions.

Starting in the 2025/2026 season, the newly renamed MS Expedition will offer an enhanced onboard experience while preserving the adventurous spirit and warm, community-driven atmosphere that have defined G Adventures’ polar journeys for more than 15 years.

The new ship claims to deliver a smoother ride, updated interiors, and more room for travellers and crew to connect while lowering the carbon footprint per passenger by up to 30 per cent.

Expedition Cruising understands this vessel is the Ice Class 1A former Ocean Adventurer (IMO 7391422) previously operated by Quark Expeditions and managed by Sunstone.  Built in 1975 as the passenger vessel Alla Tarasova, it was previously known as Clipper Adventurer and then Sea Adventurer before being renamed Ocean Adventurer in 2017 after a substantial refurbishment and technical modernisation.

G Adventures will continue to offer Zodiac excursions, a best-in-class expedition team, and unbeatable value.

The ship will operate five Antarctica itineraries, including:
  • Antarctica Classic (11 days)
  • Spirit of Shackleton (21 days), and
  • Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica (22 days)
