Aurora Expeditions Freezes the Aussie Dollar

Expedition cruise company, Aurora Expeditions, has put a freeze on exchange rates for all of their upcoming voyages to Antarctica this 2013/14 season. Those that book their Antarctic cruise before 14 June 2013, Aurora Expeditions will lock in an exchange rate of AUD1:USD1 across all departures.

With the Australian-dollar reaching an 11-month low last week, some experts are forecasting a further strong downward movement in the coming weeks. Aurora Expeditions are encouraging passengers to book their US dollar cruises now to avoid increased costs.

As a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most travellers, a trip to Antarctica is considered a high-end holiday. Those looking to fulfil their Antarctic dream can rest easy knowing that the retreating Australian dollar will not increase the cost of their trip of a lifetime.

Travellers will have the option to book on a range of expeditions highlighting the Antarctic Peninsula, the Weddell Sea, the Antarctic Circle, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. Itineraries also include 'Fly & Sail' options, excluding one sea crossing and allowing more time for landings and exploration in Antarctica.

Adventure activities are also available and include sea kayaking, camping, photography, the South Georgia Crossing, and polar scuba diving. Some surcharges apply.

Availability is limited. Contact Aurora Expeditions for available dates and cabin categories.  For more information call +61 2 9252 1033 or visit www.auroraexpeditions.com.au.
