Statement by Karl J. Pojer, Chief Executive Officer, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is on a growth path – mainly thanks to your commitment and support. Within the space of just a few years our company has evolved into the world’s leading provider of luxury and expedition cruises, and an organisation achieving profitable growth. Our ships are considered to be the best ships in the world today.

Now it is time for the next stage of the journey. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises will be integrated in the successful TUI Cruises joint venture between TUI Group and Royal Caribbean Cruises to enable us to meet strong growth in demand for luxury cruise holidays in both German-speaking and non-German-speaking countries.

The joint venture provides us with the ideal framework to continue building on the success of this growth story.

The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises luxury brand will naturally remain independent and retain its uniqueness.
The existing luxury and expedition ships in our fleet and their positioning will not change. They are distinguished by exceptional aspiration to quality, special personal service and longstanding expertise, and our guests will continue to enjoy this high-end cruise experience.

Another thing that will not change is the excellent relationships with our partners and distributors. You can still depend on the cooperative partnerships that we already enjoy, and our common customers can still depend on the high quality of the cruises. Travel agencies will continue to be the distribution mainstay for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

We’d like to thank you for being our trusted partner and look forward to continuing the success story with you.
